Hi,

I was looking at mod chips to try and run some homebrew, Gamecube
linux and possibly to back up some of my GC games (A few are rather
scratched and need a fair bit of cleaning before they are readable!).

Looking around there seem to be 'upgradable' and 'non-upgradable' mod
chips - the xeno GC being a cheap non-upgradable and the viper being
upgradable.

What is the advantage of the more expensive viper? Does it make it
easier to use the GC as a media centre (If you get a broadband
adapter)? Or is the viper more for people in to software development?

Thanks

I have the Xeno chip in my Gamecube. It's pretty easy to install and
lets you run Japan and US titles. I think you can get a Linux boot disc,
but I've never tried it. If you want to make your own backups, I think
you need the Viper.

How do y ou burn Gamecube games? Can you use a regular PC/MAC DVD
burner just put a little disc in it?
