The manual says to slightly depress the A button to aim ranged weapons.
I didn't even think the A button had more than 2 states!!! Anyway I
can't depress A without automatically shooting so I guess it doesn't.
What gives here? IGN says:

"...The GameCube version was actually much improved. Dynamic aiming
sights, better inventory management..."

So where are the aiming sights? :-)

On the PS2 version, for one, the X button for fire was analog, so you had
pressure sensitivity. That's where they're getting that. Someone didn't
alter the docs. To my knowledge, nothing about the buttons on the Cube
controller are analog except the shoulder buttons L and R, which appear to
each have two states.

Anyway, one of the skills you can buy is targetting, which would put up a
line-of-fire line when you half-depressed X on the PS2. I dunno how it's
supposed to work on the Cube, but you do have to buy the skill with skill
points to get it even on the PS2.

HTH somewhat.

Three states if you consider "off" (which you should) :-)

Ahh, that makes sense, though it seems like this is a pretty significant
part of the game to leave out of the GC version. I guess they'd used up
all the buttons so they had no choice....

Notice his name...jesse the troll.

It runs perfectly on the PS2. I fail to see how the Cube could have a
worse framerate unless they did major optimisation for the PS2.

But that's exactly the case -- the game was designed and optimised
specifically for the PS2, then ported to GCN and XBOX later. The GCN port
does have a poor framerate compared with the PS2 original, but it doesn't
ruin the game and it's really nothing to get so bothered about.

And this isn't uncommon. There are many examples of ported games coming out
worse than the original even on a console with better specs. Porbably the
best example I can think of now is Grandia II. The PS2 port is terrible
compared with the Dreamcast original.

Cheers,
Cay

You must be a really pathetic gamer if you can't aim in this game. I'm
playing co-op with my wife who has never played video games before in
her life and even she can aim.

I finished the game some weeks ago and if I remember correctly the solution
is to keep the A button depressed.
It shoots a first arrow and then you will see a blue targeting line
following the arrow direction. Because you keep the button depressed it then
keeps shooting arrows, you then just have to use the blue line to aim your
enemies.

Thanks, yeah, I figured this out. But the manual is still wrong about
being able to aim (i.e. rotate in place) *without* firing.
